It does feel like going backward to the old manual card imprinters, Leticia. As for copyright, it exists automatically upon creation in the U.S. as well. Registration isn’t required, but it provides artists with additional legal protections if they ever need to enforce their rights. Having to pay more for that protection certainly doesn’t help artists.

Also, paying for copyright is crazy to me. In Australia, copyright exists at the moment of creation and no registration is necessary.
